Blue Marble Analytics: Our Story


Blue Marble was born in the aftermath of the dot-com bubble burst, a period marked by technological upheaval and widespread uncertainty. Ramadan Abdul-Azeez , the founder, saw an opportunity to address the evolving needs of businesses grappling with the rapid pace of technological change. While many companies were downsizing, Ramadan observed a glaring gap in the market: a need for cohesive and forward-thinking IT solutions.
In 2001, against the backdrop of widespread layoffs and a shifting technological landscape, Blue Marble was established. The name itself is a reflection of Ramadan’s vision: viewing the Earth as a small, interconnected “blue marble” where information travels swiftly across the globe. This global perspective set Blue Marble apart from other tech companies of the time, many of which were still operating with a 20th-century mindset.
The Evolution from Break-Fix to Strategic IT Management
Initially, Blue Marble operated as a break-fix operation, providing essential IT support to local businesses. However, as technology evolved, so did the needs of their clients. By the early 2000s, businesses were increasingly seeking more integrated and strategic IT solutions. Blue Marble responded by transitioning into a managed services firm, even before the term “managed services” became commonplace.
Ramadan’s background in business technology development with AON and Lincoln National Life companies and IT audit at Ernst & Young provided a solid foundation for this evolution. His experience auditing various IT environments equipped him with a deep understanding of the challenges businesses faced. This expertise was instrumental in transforming Blue Marble from a reactive break-fix service provider into a proactive managed services firm. They standardized computer builds, managed system integrations, and ultimately took on director-level IT management roles for their clients.
One notable example is their long-standing relationship with the Wayne Township Trustee Office, which they have managed for over 17 years. Under Blue Marble’s stewardship, the office has successfully navigated multiple technological advancements without experiencing significant downtime, even during major outages like the Microsoft outage.
The Power of Mentorship and Partnership
A pivotal moment in Blue Marble’s history came in 2004 when Blue Marble launched their first internship program and took on Cedric Fillmore as one of their interns. While he was studying computer science, Cedric, an aspiring technologist with a keen eye for both technical and soft skills, quickly impressed Ramadan with his initiative and dedication. Over the years, Cedric’s career blossomed, guided by Ramadan’s mentorship. Cedric gained valuable experience working with companies like Circle K, MicroStrategy, and IBM, where he honed his skills in data and analytics.
In 2022, after years of professional growth and numerous discussions, Cedric and Ramadan decided to officially partner and rebrand the company as Blue Marble Analytics. This decision was driven by a shared vision to stay ahead of industry trends and focus on data and analytics. Cedric recognized the immense potential in this field and believed that their combined expertise could drive significant business growth.
